PerfoPlast

Energy performance of transformation processes in plastics processing

In a context of a particularly tense energy market and in the face of the growing risk of shortage that can lead to a blackout (collapse of the network for a prolonged period), the objective of the project is to enable participating companies, active in the plastics industry, to better control their consumption and to achieve energy savings in order, in the long term, to be able to modulate their consumption according to the available energy and lead to eco-responsible productions.

Through an analysis of the existing situation and an experimentation of improvement proposals in the laboratory of the iRAP Institute of HEIA-FR, the project aims to implement the most relevant improvements and to train the collaborators of industrial partners on the methodology to be applied in order to converge towards this energy performance of production.

Innovation lies in the experimentation of the various control parameters in order to correlate them with their energy impact. The partners will thus acquire new know-how to monitor, qualify and optimize the operation of their production in terms of energy. Production is the heart of the factory, it is there that we find the greatest energy consumption as well as the greatest potential for improvement.

The collaborative project “PerfoPlast” started in summer 2022 and will be completed in early 2024.
