Following membership in the Swiss Plastics Cluster, which is a collective member of Kunststoff.swiss, a company obtains the right to access the services of the AVS EXFOUR compensation fund, i.e. the company can change the compensation fund on 1 January of the following year. This possibility of choice is in particular offered to companies that currently make payments to a cantonal compensation office.

In Switzerland, old-age, disability and survivor insurance is based on three pillars:

• State pension (AHV compensation funds), 1st pillar
• Occupational benefits (pension funds), 2nd pillar
• Private pension provision, 3rd pillar

The AVS EXFOUR compensation fund takes care of the 1st pillar.

There are two types of AVS compensation funds:

1. Professional AVS compensation funds (under private law)
2. Cantonal and federal AVS compensation funds (under public law)

EXFOUR is a professional AVS compensation fund, and Kunststoff.swiss, the association of the Swiss plastics industry, is one of its founding associations.
